The cold and snowy weather outside asked for time inside. Even though I am a huge fan of putting on my most comfy outfit and watch Netflix all day long, my body was longing for a more special treatment! Preferably a massage.. but where to go? Utrecht has a lot of massagespots but I wanted to go for something unique. After a little research I found Body-Life. This massage place is located right in the heart of Utrecht along the Oudegracht. Even though they offer massages at home I decided to put off my Netflix date with my couch and pay them a visit. And luckily for me.. Body-Life is owned by Alex van de Bilt who is also known as the ‘Masseur of the stars’. He can count famous Dutch celebrities such as Marco Borsato and John Ewbank to his customers. When I arrived at Body-Life I could feel the relaxation kick in. The location and interior were beautiful, but I was most blown away by the smell (hello amazing fragrance sticks!). First Alex and I sat down for a coffee and his enthusiasm was contagious. Alex has over 25 years experience as a masseur and you could feel his passion for treating and healing other people. Each masseur that works for Alex is also trained by him, and Alex offers massage trainings for everyone that is interested in becoming a masseur. Maybe time for a career switch? 😉
One of Alex’ specialities is to massage people who have pain and don’t really get any further at the physiotherapist or doctor. Sounds like I am the perfect customer because my back can get pretty stiff and sometimes my physiotherapist hasn’t got a clue where it’s coming from. While drinking coffee and hearing Alex’ background story something caught my eye. On a flyer I saw someone getting a chair massage outside, along the gracht. That’s what I want! Unfortunately the current weather doesn’t really invite for massages outside, but in the summer I will definitely come back for one of those open air chair massages.
