Almost every Utrechter must know the Hofman. This café is located right in the heart of Utrecht directly at Janskerkhof. And it is difficult to describe the Hofman in 1 description. You can eat, drink and dance here very well, but they also have all kinds of shows, lectures and performances. As you can tell: a place for everyone!
A place for everyone
I always really enjoy places where all sorts of people come together to have a good time, and that is definitely what the Hofman is. Here you will find students enjoying a good meal, groups of friends tasting their home-brewed beer Hofdame (which is really delicious!), and families come together. At night all tables move away and you will have the place open up for some dancing!
Time for a borrel
Borrelen is quite a thing in the Netherlands and for a good old borrel Hofman is definitely the right place! They have all sorts of beers on their menu, but a borrel is definitely not complete without good food. We tasted their extensive borrelplank with all kinds of cheeses, hams en of course the classic bitterbal.
New menu
But the best thing about borrelen: dinner comes afterwards! We tried a variety of their new menu, which was a good combination of some classic dishes like chicken saté, hamburger but also Norwegian cod with lentils. All very delicious! You probably must think we had already way too many food but rule number 1: always make sure there is room left for dessert. And happy we did! Their chocolate mousse was one of the best I had in a long time.
