It has been a while since we made our first visit to De Zagerij. We had a delicious diner during the winter, basically a few days before the Corona-lock down. Just after our visit all restaurants closed for more than two months. Fortunately, the restaurants are now open again, under certain conditions, and we can enjoy all the delightful food they have to offer. We visited again and this time we enjoyed their amazing terrace.
De Zagerij is located just outside the city, in the Rotsoord district. Inside the restaurant they use an industrial style and everything is spacious. During the winter you can enjoy a red wine at a lovely fireplace and in the summer they offer a beautiful terrace.
During our first visit we had an amazing 3 coursed diner. We started both with the Gravad lax, a salmon dish. As a main course we took the burger and a delicious steak. But during dessert we were really spoiled! We got the rhubarb cremeux and the softly cooked rhubarb with a strawberry sorbet. It was literally the icing on the cake!
As mentioned above, the corona period closed all the restaurants. We were very happy for the restaurants when they were allowed to open again. now summer has begun, so we made a new visit to De Zagerij. They have taken the necessary measures to create a safe environment for everyone.
We enjoyed their spacious terrace, which, according to Steven, the restaurant manager, is one of the best terraces in Utrecht. We got a delicious bite and wine in the sun along the water. Definitely recommended as a summer tip now everyone should enjoy a staycation this summer.
