Last week we got into the Australian vibe by visiting de Rode Vosch located at the Voorstraat. This restaurant breaths Australia, with a main focus on Australian food and drinks. They welcomed us with some bubbles and gave an explanation of their menu. On top of all the plus points of this restaurant they have another one: the fireplace. During these cold days it is the ideal spot to warm yourself at the fire with some delicious Australian wine, before you start your diner.

Costs: 6,50 – 15,00 for small dishes. Location: Voorstraat 14

We started out with red beets arancini with goat cheese. The second round we’ve got some chicken curry pie. After the pie it was time for some fish. They served a Baramundi, a white fish native to Australia. Our last main course was some Kangaroo lende, which was prepared above a special stones which gave the kangaroo a typical BBQ flavor. After a long night of dining we’ve ended our diner with the TIMTAM Cheesecake. The different structures and layers in this cheesecake makes it very pleasing to eat!

Do you have some dinner plans at the beginning of the week? On Monday and Tuesday they offer a 4 course surprise-menu for only 20 euros! And besides that, on Thursday, Friday and Saturday they have a Cocktail hour between 22:00 – 23:00 where you can get 2 cocktails for the price of 1. We are definitely coming back for that!

Pros:

  • Of course: the lovely fireplace
  • Their Australian menu
  • The stylish establishment

Cons:

  • They don’t have an outside terrace
  • Only open for dinner
