To change things up and continue to try new places, I thought I would make an appointment at Beauty Boost on the Zakkendragerssteeg after it caught my eye as I walked by on a previous occasion. Not one to constantly have my nails ‘done’ – this occasion was a girls weekend in Paris and of course you can’t go to Paris with non-manicured, unpolished nails (so says I).

On first appearances the salon is simply gorgeous. The decor is right up my alley; clean white and rose gold! Amen! Owned by friends, Patricia and Esther, their great taste in interior decoration can only be matched by their skills in the salon. Patricia took care of my nails and spent a full 90 minutes cleaning, shaping, caring and polishing them up. I was impressed to say the least.

It’s not a word away from the truth – but this manicure and pastel blue gel polish lasted me just on three full weeks! I was shocked to say the least as most other gel polish experience I have had (quite a number of them) will just barely reach 10 days. I will have to check back in with Patricia about whether it’s technique or the polish brand (CND) but either way – I was a very happy customer!

Alongside their nail bar services the ladies at Beauty Boost are also able to take care of your Waxing/Threading needs and  specialise in Eyelash Extensions – which I am really keen to try before and for my wedding next year!

I’ll keep you posted!

Dutchie Laura lived in Utrecht for 10 years. And the Domcity has developed ever since. More and more coffee bars have popped up and there are a lot of places to grab a sandwich on the go or stay for work. Best of all, Utrecht has a wide variety in of restaurants. Laura’s favorite? Anything with sushi, pasta, Indian, vegetarian, burgers, fish, meat, classic French… she’s not picky at all!
