Meet Uncle Jim, the newest addition to the Croeselaan. This restaurant opened only 2 weeks ago but definitely has a lot of potential to become the hotspot of the area. Stylish interior, tables with their own beer tap (yes really) and delicious, friendly priced foo. Let me introduce you to the coolest uncle you will ever meet!

The first reason why I believe Uncle Jim has a lot of potential, is the amazing interior and size of the restaurant. Even though I visited on a relatively quiet Tuesday evening, it was not hard to imagine this place being very crowded and lively. They have 3 main eye catchers that will grab everyone’s attentions: their incredibly big bar, the open kitchen (which I always love) and of course their self service beer tables. What I especially like about the beer taps, is that they are perfect for a night out with friends. Because really, what is better than a night with drink and friends?

Second reason is definitely the food! Although some dishes could still use some improvement (we didn’t really like the truffle mayo and chocolate mousse for example), Uncle Jim has a very diverse menu. Whether you want to enjoy a quick meal before going to the theatre or have a long night of dining: both will definitely work here! We really loved the grilled asparagus, mussels and the burger. All dishes  could be expanded with various supplements such as salads, fries, rice and many more. In my opinion a great way to mix and match you own main course!

Pros

  • Friendly priced menu with many options
  • Self service beer taps for a great night out with friends
  • Good location close to Jaarbeurs, Beatrix Theater and train station

Cons

  • Due to its big size not the best restaurant for intimate dining
  • The terrace behind is adjacent to a parking space
