Every time you go on a city trip, short vacation or longer stay you’ll have to decide: go for the convenience of a hotel or book an AirBnB where you can make your own meals to make your city trip a bit less expensive. At 2L De Blend, located at the top of Lombok, you’ll have both. In every room, you get that hotel feel plus there is an option to eat breakfast in the restaurant downstairs. Brought your own food? Store it in the fridge on your room and cook something up in the small kitchen in the room. Best of both worlds!
The Short Stay Hotel 2L De Blend is located in the same building as Mr. Black and the White Ox and located opposite the Douwe Egberts factory. Fun fact: the hotel used to be the office for employees of Douwe Egberts. The hotel advertises themselves as a ‘different’ hotel for expats, young professionals, and tourists alike. The center is 2.5 kilometers away and is reachable by bus, Uber or bike
Our stay at 2L De Blend
Our room was one of the bigger rooms (aka suite!) and included a double bed plus one single bed. There was a TV on each side of the wall. We actually didn’t use it but it can be quite relaxing to ‘stay in’ and watch Netflix if you are staying in Utrecht for a longer period of time. The small (and well thought-out) bathroom has everything you need and even included a bidet. And if you are planning to surprise your loved one or friend with breakfast in bed: they even have an oven.
Convenience is key
Everything at 2L De Blend is done with the convenience of the visitor in mind. You’ll check-in through a screen by typing in your last name. Keycards are made by a small scanner right in front of the tablet. Forgot to pack some essentials? A small convenience store is located next to the entrance and check-in area. Here you’ll find items like deodorant, toothpaste, and cream. Midnight cravings? Head downstairs and stock up on chocolate, nuts, wine or sodas from the fridges. All in good faith: the fridges are open to anyone and you are supposed to pay through another touch screen next to the small shop. There is personnel in the building.
